JOYCE BLOK EVERY DAY SKIN CARE LINES
A good skin care routine is essential, as the skin is subjected to many outside influences such as sun (especially harmful UV rays), wind and pollution. Preserving your skin's natural oil barrier is vital. It helps retain moisture (water), and keeps pollutants and micro-organisms out.

Joyce Blok Natural Skin Care products are made here for our conditions. The products contain natural-source ingredients such as extracts of herbs, flowers, fruits, essential oils, vitamins and minerals to give effective skin care solutions for all.

There are four lines of daily care products (cleansers, toners, moisturisers) so that a beauty therapist can prescribe a home care regimen to meet the current needs and skin condition of her client. That's why Joyce Blok products are only available through qualified beauty therapists trained in the use and recommendation of Joyce Blok products. (Follow the links in the menu for information and a brochure for each range.)

"Your skin is your body's first line of defence. For this reason alone it's worth looking after!"

Regardless of skin condition, most skin care routines involve three basic steps. Here's what we suggest:

CLEANSING
Your skin needs cleansing to remove accumulated dirt and make-up, without destroying the natural sebum (oil) layer of the skin.

Ideally your skin should be cleansed twice a day, in the morning to remove skin wastes, and in the evening to remove the day's grime and pollution. Avoid washing your face under a hot shower as heat and friction dehydrate your skin. In fact, never use more than lukewarm water on your face.

Place enough cleanser to cover a 20 cent piece in the palm of your hand and allow your body heat to warm it slightly. Gently work it over the face and neck with your fingertips, using small circular motions. (Take care around the eyes and mouth - preferably use Eye & Lip Cleanser for make-up).

Remove the cleanser with a moist, clean face cloth or facial sponge. The cleanser must be thoroughly removed and not just "splashed off".

When removing make-up, cleanse twice: once for the make-up and once for the skin.

TONING
Joyce Blok toners are aqueous herbal lotions, with a high level of natural ingredients, which work in conjunction with your cleanser to balance the skin and prepare it for moisturising. Use the toner immediately after cleansing.

You may use cotton wool to apply the toner over your face and neck, or alternatively a 'spritzer' can be attached to the toner bottle and sprayed. Either way, the toner will treat and refresh your skin, while removing any cleanser remnants.

MOISTURISING
A moisturiser provides a protective 'seal' to prevent, or slow down the evaporation of water (moisture) from your skin. Joyce Blok products also provide ingredients to help promote healthy skin growth.

Joyce Blok 'day care' moisturisers are lighter, more quickly absorbed, and can be applied under make-up. They are easily reapplied during the day where extra protection is required.

Most skin cell renewal occurs at night while the body is resting. Joyce Blok 'night care' creams are richer, with extra emollients and nutrients, for maximum benefits. It is false economy not to use the correct day and night moisturisers.

You may moisturise when you feel your skin needs it, but always moisturise after cleansing and toning. Remember, always apply moisturisers to your neck as well as your face!

Warm moisturiser on the fingertips, then apply to the skin. Blend in with upward movements, avoiding the eye area. Use Eye Cream or Eye Gel in this delicate, sensitive area.

EXFOLIATING
Make-up, pollution and oily or dehydrated skin inhibit the natural shedding of dead surface skin cells. Normal cleansing won't always remove these. It is essential to exfoliate the skin regularly (once or twice a week), especially to allow penetration of moisturising and treatment products.

Gentle Facial Exfoliant can be used as a dry exfoliant, or a gentle wet scrub. Leaving the exfoliant to dry on the skin is slightly more effective, but takes a little longer.

Dry - apply a thin layer evenly over the face and neck. Allow to dry. Supporting the skin, buff the exfoliant off (this should look like rubber erasings). Any remaining particles can be removed with a moist face cloth or sponge.

Wet - lightly moisten the face before applying the exfoliant. Gently massage over the face and neck. Remove with a moist face cloth or sponge.

Your skin will feel soft and smooth. To enhance your skin care results, use a mask immediately after exfoliating.
