JOYCE BLOK INTENSIVE CARE MASKS
As well as a wide selection of ‘intensive care’ professional masks provided for the
therapist to use in salon treatments, Joyce BLOK also offers a
series of masks which the client can use at home on a regular, weekly
basis.
Why home care masks?
Just as ampoules containing concentrated and pure solutions of active
skin care ingredients offer the client a real ‘boost’ in improving
skin condition, masks are another application which can significantly
enhance skin care.
The most important effects of a mask are a general refining,
moisturising and stimulation, as a high level of active ingredients is
kept in contact with the skin for a period of time. Masks should be considered a normal, regular part of an effective skin
care routine, both in the salon and at home.
The therapist may well give her client suggestions for masks that can
be freshly prepared at home for added variety. But to ensure regular
application of proven active ingredients in an appropriate
concentration, Joyce BLOK masks are ideal. Further, they can be used
together with the ampoules already discussed.
There is sufficient in each Joyce BLOK mask tube for at least three
masks covering the face and neck thoroughly. There are three types of
home care masks available . . .
Gel - a translucent, moist gel which is easily applied and easily
removed. This makes the mask quick and easy to use. It does not set
and feels refreshing. It provides a good vehicle for applying selected
water-soluble ingredients.
Cream - a richer, opaque mask which has more nutrients and active
ingredients, in a water-in-oil emulsion. This allows the application
of essential oils, vitamins, and moisturisers.
Clay - a setting mask which, if left long enough may
become quite firm. This allows for excellent cleansing, toning and
soothing effects, especially as the clays adsorb excess oils and
debris.
Directions
Thorough cleansing and toning should be carried out as usual.
Exfoliation with "special care" Gentle Face Scrub will prepare the
skin for better effects from the chosen mask.
All masks are best applied with a firm, flat mask brush, though
finger-tip application is not difficult. In either case the brush or
fingers should be thoroughly clean.
The mask should be applied over the face, neck, and décolletage,
avoiding the immediate area around the eyes, mouth and nostrils.
Sufficient product should be used to provide a thin layer over the
whole area of skin.
A good idea is for the therapist to show the client in the salon how
the mask should be applied, so that she can make the best use of masks
at home. The home care mask should be seen as a support to the
therapist’s treatment, not a replacement.
The mask should be left on for at least 10 minutes, but generally not
more than 20 minutes.
A good suggestion is for the client to lie down or sit with head well
back during this time, covering her eye-lids with cotton pads soaked
in diluted toner (50:50). This makes the procedure even more
effective, and it is very relaxing - an essential for general
well-being.
The mask should be removed with moist sponges, or a clean face cloth
and warm water. The mask should be dampened all over and gently
cleaned away. Any last traces of mask can be removed with toner.
Finally,
the appropriate night cream or 'ultra care' Rejuvenating Skin
Cream and Eye Care Cream should be applied and massaged gently into
the skin.
For very oily skins 'herbal extra' Light Moisture Day Care may
help to maintain a better balance as a non-oily moisturiser.
Otherwise a very light application of 'neroli balm' Soothing
Moisture Day Care, or even 'ultra care' Rejuvenating Skin Cream
will be suitable for most oily skins.
